In 2004, the Asian American Federation of New York piloted the first Asian American Giving Circle in New York City in an effort to pool individual financial resources for the benefit of Asian American organizations and causes. AsiaNextGen provides an influential vehicle to drive social change and provide financial and intellectual capital to nonprofits and Asian Americans in need. Asian American non-profits throughout New York work to provide health care, job training, housing assistance, legal counsel and other essential services to Asian Americans. Yet they constantly struggle to obtain sufficient funding to meet their needs.¹

AsiaNextGen allows the donation of time and money by Asian American professionals from varying backgrounds to strategically shape their philanthropic goals. This collective, more direct form of higher impact giving also allows members to meet and work with others who share common interests and values. Currently, AsiaNextGen is comprised of 5 members and has raised a total of $20,000.

As a member of AsiaNextGen, you will have the hands-on opportunity to support the causes important to you as well as collaborate with others to make focused, social investments. In addition, you will learn more about Asian American philanthropy and increase your understanding of specific Asian American issues or areas of interest. We believe that educating ourselves through research, site visits and guest speakers is the key to understanding what’s best to do with our dollars. Rather than writing a nominal, individual check for $100 or $500, members will have the opportunity to pool their donations, ensuring each contribution will have a significantly greater impact. Members will also have the excitement of being part of the first ever Asian American giving circle, impacting Asian American causes in New York City.
